I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer vacation, slowing down and enjoying the beauty of nature. In this newsletter I want to share 2 of my paintings currently on display at Galerie Bonnard as part of group exhibition ‘The painted nature’. It’s up until the end of this month, with beautiful and diverse works to see!
Up on the hill

Both paintings are based on last year’s summer vacation. Our family went for a walk and we came across this hill. The sun was shining, my daughter was wearing a lovely summer dress and hat, sheep were grazing.. it was just perfect. Up there on the hill.

This scenery reminded me of romantic, impressionistic landscapes. I wanted to capture that feeling, which meant loosening up and applying bolder brushstrokes. The whole process involved playing with details and leaving out information. The result shows the different layers, gradually merging into each other: from the bare tinted panel, rough marks of flowers and dress, to a refined and glowing face pulling you in.
These paintings are part of the current group exhibition at Galerie Bonnard, until August 31.
