Commissioning a painting
A painting isn’t just a pretty picture on the wall; the artist’s signature touch and atmosphere give it a unique personality. Moreover, a painting is full of meaning: it can tell a story with veiled symbolism, transport you to another place, or capture the soul of a person.
Since my participation in the television program ‘Sterren op het Doek’, I’m accepting commissioned paintings. Interested? Great! Feel free to contact me so we can discuss your wishes and the possibilities.
Here are a few things to consider:
- What is the subject? This can be a single/multiple portrait or figure, still life, or combination of both. Consider if the subject has a specific meaning that I can take into account.
- What is the desired size? A combination of several very small paintings can also be really nice in certain cases (like here).
- Consider where the painting will be placed; this affects choises to be made about size, color and overall vibe.
If you have a general idea of what you want, please contact me so that I can make a customized price estimate.
I start with reference photos. Depending on the subject, you can provide photos or have me take them for you. I’ll then use these to create a digital composition that incorporates the colors and overall atmosphere. This gives you a clear idea of what to expect from the final painting, and hopefully, you’ll be thrilled already! After approval, I can give you an estimate of when the work will be completed. Depending on the size and complexity, this will take several weeks or months.
